Curcumin Bioavailable
On the bioavailability of curcumin
The way of medicine is related to people's health. Among them, curcumin has many wonderful uses, but its bioavailability is the focus of the industry's investigation.

Curcumin is good in nature and has a wide range of effects on the human body. It can regulate the metabolism of the body and help the peace of the viscera; it can resist the disturbance of inflammation and relieve the entanglement of pain; and it has antioxidant power, resists the invasion of free radicals, and protects the integrity of cells. However, its bioavailability is poor, like a pearl in the dust, and it is difficult to show its full brilliance.

The reason is due to the characteristics of curcumin itself. First, the solubility is low, and it is difficult to dissolve in aqueous media, resulting in poor intestinal absorption. Second, the stability is insufficient. In case of acid-base, light, and temperature changes, it is easy to decompose and deteriorate, and its activity is damaged. Third, the first-pass effect is significant. After absorption through the gastrointestinal tract, it is rapidly metabolized in the liver, resulting in a sharp decrease in the amount of drugs entering the systemic circulation.

In order to solve this dilemma, all the wise people have worked hard to explore ways to improve. Those who have researched new preparations, such as nanoparticles and liposomes, to increase their solubility and stability and facilitate intestinal absorption. Those who have studied combined drugs, add other substances to help curcumin avoid the first-pass disaster and increase the bioavailability. There are also changes in the route of administration, not only through the mouth and stomach, or through the skin, or by injection, in order to achieve better results.

Today's research, although progress has been made, the improvement of curcumin bioavailability is still a long way off. It still requires colleagues in the academic community to work together and work hard, hoping to break this problem and make curcumin shine in the field of medicine, benefiting all people.
