How Turmeric Is Grown
The method of planting turmeric
The method of turmeric, the method of planting art, has its own way.
In its land, it is advisable to choose fertile soil, the soil is sparse and moist, and the sun is sufficient. The height of the land, it is advisable to be flat and open, and the drainage is good, so that the water does not accumulate.
When planting, it is mostly in spring, when the air is warm and the soil temperature is gradually rising. Choose a good seed first, its rhizomes must be strong and disease-free, cut off with a sharp blade, and each section has one or two buds.
When sowing, dig a hole in the ground, several inches deep, the hole distance is about a foot, and place the seed in it, cover it with fine soil, about a few minutes thick, and slightly suppress it to make the seed and soil close.
The method of irrigation depends on the dryness and wetness of the soil. During droughts, irrigation is frequent to keep the soil moist; when the rain is strong, waterlogging is prevented, ditches are drained, and roots are not injured.
As for fertilizer, organic fertilizers, such as manure and compost, should be used before planting and buried deep as base fertilizer. When growing, top-dressing should be used in a timely manner to help its branches and leaves flourish and rhizomes enrich.
During this period, attention must also be paid to the prevention of pests and diseases. Common pests, or worms, roots and leaves, or diseases cause leaves and yellow stems to wither. The method of treatment should be prevention first, so that the planting ground is clean and well ventilated. If there is an insect infestation, you can use biological methods to treat insects; when the disease occurs, choose the right medicine, apply it cautiously, and do not hurt its root.
Wait until the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, when the stems and leaves are gradually withered, it is the time of harvest. Dig the rhizomes, wash them and dry them, and then store them for later use.
