Lycopene and Prostate Shrinking
The theory of lycopene and prostate shrinkage
In recent years, the medical community has studied the relationship between lycopene and prostate shrinkage. Lycopene is a natural pigment contained in plants, and is more common in tomatoes, watermelons, and fruits and vegetables.

Some doctors say that lycopene has antioxidant properties. In the human body, oxidative stress often damages cells, or causes prostate hyperplasia. Lycopene can capture free radicals, slow down oxidation, protect prostate cells, or is beneficial for prostate shrinkage.

Looking at various experiments, animals fed lycopene can see some changes in prostate tissue, which seem to be a sign of shrinkage. However, the body of animals is different from that of humans, and this test does not prove that it can shrink the human prostate.

There are clinical observations. Some patients with prostatic hyperplasia take lycopene preparations and report that they have urination and other symptoms slightly slower. However, this is all the feeling of the patient, and the sample is not extensive, so it cannot be confirmed that lycopene can indeed shrink the prostate.

To sum up, although the theory of lycopene shrinking in the prostate has traces to follow, but to prove its effect, more rigorous research and extensive verification are needed.
