Mace Pepper Spray Difference
On the Difference between Metz and Pepper Spray
Many people in the world confuse Metz and pepper spray, thinking that the two are the same. In fact, although both are used for self-defense, the difference between them is insignificant.

Metz, in the past, used the chemical irritant chloracetophenone as the main ingredient. It acts on people, causing severe pain in the eyes, nose and throat, cross-flow of tears and mucus, respiratory discomfort, and then temporary incapacity. In the past, it was widely used in law enforcement and self-defense fields. However, due to the long-term toxicity and environmental hazards of chloracetophenone, it was gradually abandoned in many regions. Today, Metz, the ingredients have been mostly improved, replaced by mild irritants, but the irritation still exists.

Pepper spray uses capsaicin as the core ingredient. Capsaicin is derived from natural peppers, sprayed out, and touches the human body, causing burning pain in the eyes, swelling and difficulty in opening, difficulty in breathing, and burning and tingling in the skin. Because of its natural ingredients, it is legal and widely used in many regions. Compared with Mace, pepper spray takes effect quickly, has a short action time, is less harmful to the environment, has relatively mild toxicity, is easy for users to control, and has little impact on innocent bystanders.

Mace and pepper spray are significantly different in terms of composition, effect, safety, and environmental impact. In the choice of self-defense equipment, the world should carefully consider the differences between the two, and make a careful choice according to their own needs and actual situation in order to achieve the best self-defense effect, taking into account safety and legality.
