Marigolds water requirement
On the watering needs of calendula
Calendula likes to be warm and moist in nature, but its water needs also need to be appropriate. If it passes, the rhizomes are perishable; if it is missing, the branches and leaves will wilt.
Looking at its growth period, at the beginning of spring, the climate is getting warmer, and calendula begins to sprout and twigs. At this time, the soil should be slightly moist, but not water. About every three or five days, depending on the dryness and wetness of the soil, use a spoon to drink water and slowly pour it, so that the soil is moist and not waterlogged.
And in summer, the sun is like fire, and the transpiration is very fast. The need for water for calendula increases greatly. Every morning or evening, it is advisable to water it, and then water it thoroughly, so that the water seeps out from the bottom of the basin, so as to keep the roots nourished by water. In case of sudden rain, avoid it, and do not allow water to accumulate in the basin for too long.
In autumn, the weather turns cooler, the growth of marigolds gradually slows down, and the demand for water also decreases. Water it once every four or five days to keep the soil slightly moist.
As for winter, marigolds are dormant in many places, and the soil should be dry. Water it in ten days, or moisten it a little when the soil is dry and cracked, to prevent freezing and hurting the roots.
In general, the watering of marigolds should be determined according to the changing seasons, the dryness and wetness of the soil, and the growth trend, so as to make them flourish and full of vitality.
