Turmeric and Curcuma
"Compendium of Materia Medica" says: "Turmeric and tulip have similar functions." Turmeric and Curcuma, although the two have different names, are quite similar in their properties and uses.
Turmeric, yellow in color and fragrant in qi, its taste is refreshing, bitter in nature, and warm in nature. Enter the spleen and liver meridians. It is good to break blood and circulate qi, pass through menstruation and relieve pain. In the signs of stagnation of qi and blood, such as tingling in the chest and flank, abdominal pain due to menstruation, and accumulation of grievances, etc., all have good effects.
Tulip, also has the power of dispersing bitterness, cold in nature and enters the heart, liver, and bile meridians. It can not only promote blood circulation and relieve pain, but also clear the heart and cool the blood, and use the gallbladder to turn yellow. It can treat tingling in the chest and flank, dizziness from fever, madness from epilepsy, jaundice and red urine, etc.
Both can promote blood circulation, promote qi and relieve pain, but turmeric is warm, longer than walking arms and arthralgia; tulip is cold, biased towards clearing the heart and relieving depression, and gall and turning yellow.
